I think it's weird that I go to Blissdom '09 in Nashville, had a blast, met lots of fantastic ladies, got great swag, and came back home uninspired to write anything.

Crickets chirpped. No give-aways. No serious topics. No fund-raising. My blog was just blah.

I wonder if all the bloggers I met were so serious about their writing and blogging networking and I know that I just do this to meet folks and have some fun..................... As always I didn't think I measured up.

Then, I decided that that couldn't be the reason because I have finally hit a point in my life that I am not doing stuff to please other people or do what is only expected of me. I am finally doing things for me and realizing that It. Is. Okay.

I just wasn't in the mood. It happens. And it only meant something to me. Sorry if all of this is random and not making much sense, but it does to me.

I hope a Happy Easter was had by all. I always think of my Mamaw at Easter when we sing "Because He Lives." I missed her so much yesterday it hurt. I hope I can impact my children and future grandchildren in that same, loving way.

Let's do standardized testing this week!! I only have 31 more days of school!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-56887796321779497092009-02-24T19:24:00.003-05:002009-02-24T19:31:41.392-05:00Hello. Is this thing on?Hello. I know I have posted in a long, long while, but ......... well, I don't know why.

I have wanted to post about my Blissdom trip, but in order to do that I need to upload my photos to the computer, then find the ones I want and put them in the post.

I wanted to show off my cute green shoes I got on clearance for 9 bucks, but once again, it would require effort.

My mom got me a cute green sweater (Did you see that Lynette? 2 cute green things!) that I thought I could share, but instead, I am wearing it right now.

I guess I just haven't had the "get-up-and-go" lately. Ever since my trip to Nashville, I don't feel like I can get caught up. My laundry is never-ending, I need to vaccum, the cabinets are asking me to go to the store, and my legs are hairy. Sorry. I thought I would share that tidbit with you.

I do want to say that I'm grateful today for my friend Christi's dad's open-heart surgery going well, and I had another friend that got some good news from a doctor too. I have lots of joys and some concerns too, but we'll discuss those another day.

I hope to get back into the swing of things soon. The next little bit of time is not slowing down, so maybe I need to go get some vitamins? Anybody out there know something that's good to take for energy?Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-10498059074656691462009-02-10T06:00:00.000-05:002009-02-10T06:00:01.311-05:00Heeeeeerrrrrrre's Robin!!I have finally gotten around to sitting down with Lula, and letting her pick my brain. I enjoyed putting on my thinking cap and spending time with her questions. Because of time restraints, I got right to the heart of the matter and answered the questions. And Lula, be proud, I wanted to answer all of them!!

Lula: Everyone has been blessed with a talent, be it big or small. What's yours, and do you use it often?

Robin: I don’t think I have a true talent, but I can pick stuff up with my toes. I have fun with that with towels on the floor and stuff.

Lula: Share your favorite memory from childhood.

Robin: I have so many!! I think, probably anytime I spent at my grandparents’ house. When I think of my mamaw, I feel safe and warm and remember just doing simple, fun things. She would hang kite string up in her kitchen, let me wear one of her aprons with clothespins in it, and hang towels. I was “hanging my wash out on the line!”

Lula: You've been given a two week, all-expenses paid vacation. Where will you go? Whom will you take with you?

Robin: A beach destination!!! If I wanted just a fun-filled trip, I would take a few close friends and we would lounge and laugh and drink fruity drinks with umbrellas. If I wanted romance, I would take Billy and we would lounge in a different way!!

Lula: If you could have one superpower, what would you want? How would you use it?

Robin: I would love to have the power of bending the will of children. Heehee. All I would have to do would be to touch their shoulder, and it would be like a mind-bend thingy. They would do whatever I asked them to do without arguing with me. A sweet Pollyanna glaze would come over their faces. =)

Lula: A movie is being made of your life story. Who will play you? Your significant other? And what song would be on the movie's soundtrack?

Robin: I would love for Ashley Judd to play me. She’s beautiful, Southern (Appalachian Southern –there is a difference), and she’s intelligent. I would pick Tom Hanks or someone like him to play Billy. Tom Hanks’ can be funny, serious, and can hold a conversation with you. The movie’s soundtrack would have to be something by U2. I think, maybe, Sometime’s You Can’t Make it On Your Own. I love that song and the backstory to it!!

Lula: If you had an entire day to spend by yourself, with plenty of money at your disposal, what would you choose to do?

Robin: I would have an outlandishly extravagant spa day!! Massage, facial, mani/pedi, wraps, hot stone treatments, and anything else I could pick.

Lula: Name three people, living or deceased, you'd invite to a dinner party at your house. What would you serve?

Robin: I would love to have: 1- my Mamaw, just to have a chance to be with her again and talk to her and let her love me 2- Dr. John Lang, a college English professor, because even while I was a stupid college student, I could tell his intelligence and love for modern Southern writers, and 3- Elvis, back when he was King, not all doped up

Lula: You stumble upon a time machine that will only go back through time. Where will it take you? What will you do in that period of time?

Robin: I would like to go back to college and let my freak-flag fly. In high school, I felt like I was more of my own person. In college, I feel that I never quite fit into a peg. That left me at times feeling isolated and lonely. I had a great time, but I wish I would have been truer to myself and that might have been better for me later on.

Lula: What is your all-time favorite book? Movie? Television show? Song?

Robin: I always have trouble with these questions. I like so much and such a wide variety of things. I’ll try…..
Book: To Kill a Mockingbird I love the story of realizing what is in your own backyard and how precious it can be
Movie: I always say Grease because it was the movie from my youth that I looked forward to seeing the once a year it came on tv. As I’ve gotten older, I still love it. That’s the type of movie you can watch anytime and just have fun. I also really love The Green Mile. It’s a great story and I can watch it to make me cry when I need a good cry.
Song: I can't answer this one. It definitely depends on whether it's a party, power ballad, dance floor, or a road trip. I love too much music and too many different kinds.
TV Show: I have to say Lost!!! That is the best show that makes you think and is intelligent. I also seem to be watching a lot of reruns of Frasier right now. I always liked that show too. I will admit that Billy and I park our rears every Sunday night at 9:00 on VH1 for Rock of Love. Those girls give new meaning to the word skank!!

Lula: A physician offers you $25,000 worth of plastic surgery services. Do you take him/her up on the offer? If so, what will you enhance/make bigger/make smaller?

Robin: I would definitely take up that offer. Could I include LASIK in there? My stinking insurance doesn’t think it’s medical, and I want. It. So. Bad. My body could use so many other procedures, but I would give it all up for LASIK. sigh.

Thanks Lula for the thought-provoking questions. Now, I would love to interview YOU!! If you would like to join in the fun, leave me a comment that you would like to be interviewed. I will email you some questions and then you can post it on your blog. Don't be afraid. I can't throw curve balls.

Even if you don't want to be interviewed, leave me a comment. I need some lovin' over here!!!

Have a great day!
RobinRobinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-36656234779744739372009-02-09T16:19:00.002-05:002009-02-09T16:24:40.797-05:00I promise, I promise.I promise to post my Lula interview questions and answers. Girls, this was serious fun. I mean, F-U-N!! I want to go again already!!

I will get to those, just not today. It was fun, have I said that already??? LOL.

Have a great day!!
RobinRobinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-90372298224138328992009-02-03T08:48:00.003-05:002009-02-03T09:05:56.029-05:00It just keeps getting better!I must have done something right over the weekend because my fog is lifting.

I got out early from school yesterday, we are closed today, they are calling for more snow to come, Adriana Trigiani's new book, Very Valentine, is out today, AND in 2 days, Christi and I are leaving for Blissdom '09!!!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 164px; height: 132px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Wm1_1CuIBAXhW1gKsJ4ElCamSU3J_f3ENOLG9xdYlaSIL1Gg90SpzmNgKEq-I6RXiYJVCFfR_PkvEDKjP2FOICPUM18bXDJxM4ebmx8kOL8SHT8wNJ9jcAqYEt1sD1Ljb5tp7GlJPrrJ/s400/im_going_yall.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298571786829381458" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 183px; height: 280px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoosdzEqp6ydxDKupGL_Z15wrHuhYZXgHA8XmKXEIo1u9LTf4C8JcmXeovkmXG9qTA2nHeDzHUvMTAipqNwQXF4GwJJ1Ue2yIoX7_KbQRg8LiyHOlM8TbNEQ5OtvzbWTRyMWoKzyYLLbLY/s400/33695479.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298571784477966306" />

On the book: I love this author. She grew up in Big Stone Gap, VA which is about an hour away from here. When she published her first book, Big Stone Gap, Christi and I went to Big Stone for the book signing. Reed was little and in a stroller. I forgot to add that Christi lived in Big Stone Gap for her middle school years so that made it even more special. I've also gotten another one of her books signed. She just seems so real and friendly. She's the type that you would want to have a meal with and just sit around and talk.

On Blissdom: Christi and I are leaving Thursday afternoon. We are staying with a college friend Thursday night then heading into Nashville on Friday. We have not done anything like this since we graduated from college way back in 1995. I am excited to do something with her and to get adult time for almost 4 days!! 4 days. Do you know the last time that happened?

That's one big career downfall. I teach small children all day and then come home to small children in the evening. Oh yes, the girls are growing up and becoming more self-sufficent, but sometimes just the fact that they need me is overwhelming. That makes me sound like a real winner in the mom department, doesn't it?? See. I need this little mini-vacation!! I hope to learn more about this great big blog world we live in.

See ya then!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-44172288708334760982009-02-02T14:56:00.002-05:002009-02-02T14:58:42.070-05:00Today's a good day.I got a surprise today! A very, simple surprise, but it lifted my heart. We got out of school 2 hours early for inclement weather. It was a great shock because it was not expected, and truthfully, we probably could have stayed!

I came home, ran the vaccum (to get rid of the guilt), sat down to catch up on bloggy stuff, and will be getting off to read some of my Sookie Stackhouse book and drink a cup of coffee.

Sounds like a good day to me!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-61372967343710673232009-01-29T18:10:00.003-05:002009-01-29T18:27:57.116-05:00I have nothing....I haven't had anything note-worthy to blog about lately, so here's a meme that a friend emailed to me. Then, it snowed!! I was so happy to get an extra day at home. It felt nice to have a surprise day off. Billy and I were hurriedly trying to finish rewatching season 3 and 4 of Lost before last night.

Then, we were on a 2 hour delay yesterday morning, and I like those too. We go to school a little later but it counts as a regular day. I got up, showered, came into the living room, cut on the Today Show, and saw that we were out again!! The sun was shining, and no snow on the ground. It puzzled me, but should I really be looking a gifted horse in the mouth? Now, I have learned not to ask why, but to be happy with what we are given. Soooo, I happily got to stay home again!! Once again, we watched DVDs trying to finish up. We somehow did it and then got to watch it for real last night! I'm happy to have it back, but of course, I am confused already!! That's why I love it though!

I am going to work today though. This will be an extremely short week, and there's nothing wrong with that!!!

Have a great Thursday everyone!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-70595559205770678392009-01-16T08:53:00.002-05:002009-01-16T09:02:47.195-05:00It's coming!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 296px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAO2Fk6yCbgdpAaDV5N-5XE089sX-sSb_KyqLP_hkA44Kf2_QWJm4I4_nrvKT6r1tbBIVedCFu8Up5EEEvGIyeHzsdqmT4M4adwZ0XZ_YsgfxIK4YP3F3__0B8feLQgz9j94Ng0kFq26OM/s400/mattfox.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291889803412348370" />

I saw this picture on PerezHilton, which is from Details magazine, and I got excited!! There is something about Matthew Fox that I like. I know his character can be a total you-know-what, but I get him. Plus, he's awfully pretty to look at!

Lost is coming back!!!! It will be here Wednesday night and I am so stoked. I love this show. I love that, sometimes, after I watch it, I still am not sure what happened. I often look at my husband, and ask, "What the #&*@ was that?" That's good television folks!

I got Billy the first 4 seasons on DVD for Christmas, and we have been trying to rewatch before Wednesday. I don't think it's going to happen. It's been fun to watch though. We'll see something and be all, "Well, duh! The writers actually told us what it was going to be!" Take when Hurley and Sayid are on the beach with the radio, they pick up a Benny Goodman song (or something close to that). Sayid says that it could be coming from anywhere and Hurley says or any-TIME!!

Folks, they actually told us. We were just too simple to get it. Oh how I love this show!

Any Lost fans out there??????Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-28861461322850920202009-01-14T07:12:00.003-05:002009-01-14T07:19:47.983-05:00Happy Birthday Allie!!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpg9Qkh66ck21IAAy3odOlSbmCGv8S4R1SCMjq9DXElVlqEh0ZDlxveJqZSK1yVUbIOWl8dW0Dp8FRw67j3MdFp6Pk5OpM6xLYeVUksMyBHMHpnEOre8jnDYfZZdME_zqamGgRR7yIPvf1/s400/100_0883.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291122778992229026" />

Today is my youngest daughter's birthday. Allie is 6 today. She is so excited that she work up extra early this morning. I can't believe that she is where she is because babies aren't supposed to grow up, are they? She is a crackerjack, and I wish that I had time to share everything that she says. She did say last night, "Remember when I used to want to skip 5 and just go to 6? Well, I don't have to think about that now!" Her quips are the stuff of legend at church. She loves to be kissed and cuddled. I always can count on some lovin' from her. I pray for her to grow into a woman that continues to show her love and friendliness to others. I pray that some Christian parents out there are raising a son to be a good mate for her. I pray for her to be healthy and make good choices as she grows. Finally, I pray that I am the mother she needs me to be to help her get through the coming and forming years.

Happy Birthday Allie!! I love you.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-82432968506968288532009-01-10T16:43:00.002-05:002009-01-10T16:50:08.395-05:00I know it's not Friday....I know it's not Friday, and Flashback doesn't quite go with Saturday, but I wanted to do a song flashback anyway! So, we'll call it Song Saturday.

I was running errands the other day and listening to my current favorite channel on Sirius, '90s on 9. Most of the songs remind me of college and the fun times I had. I can usually hear a song and remember a certain time, a certain person, or some event. I feel like my life has its own soundtrack sometimes.

Anywho, this song was one of those songs from 1991, I think. It takes me back to fall at Emory and Henry. Ahhh, the good ole days of college.

So, here's Naughty by Nature, OPP. I really loved this song at the time.

Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-76179483069044717842009-01-06T17:12:00.003-05:002009-01-06T17:17:15.174-05:00Some January blahs...I had to go back to work yesterday.

Yes, I had to.

I would love to not have to work and be able to feel like the laundry actually got finished at my house.

I would love to have my wits about me at the end of the day and not feel so short-fused with my own children.

I would like to be able to start something at home and not feel like I'll get around to it on a break.

I know, I know, I am whining, but please let me. My assistant is out this week, for a very blessed reason (a new grandson), but it's report card time and my nerves are shot by 2:00!!

Also, it is raining so much here that I may be building an ark tonight. Who knows!!

I want some sun or a snow day or something! Alright, I feel better now, thanks.

By the way, I am going to Nashville in February to the Blissdom Conference. Anybody out there going? I will blog later about getting ready for it with my best friend, Christi. We will have fun!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-42797891934344198802008-12-29T21:46:00.007-05:002008-12-29T22:28:27.057-05:00Some post-Christmas cheer to share...I thought I would post some pictures from Christmas to share with you. She started asking for this thing back in July.

I celebrate my 13th anniversary tomorrow with Billy. We were kids, basically, when we got married. We were almost 23 and had never lived away from home. I had graduated from college in May and Billy had graduated 2 weeks before the wedding. Looking back on it, as a parent, I am shocked that no one tried to talk some sense into us. We had the world by the tail. We soon had reality slap us in the face. But, that's another post for another day. We've had some major things happen (the post I mentioned), and some miracles (our girls) have occurred. We have been blessed by family, friends, and good memories. Then, Billy has a birthday on Jan. 1. I have one on Jan. 11, Allie on Jan. 14, and Reed on Jan. 25. Yeah, we really know how to plan. : )

If you click on it, you can really see how young we looked!! Reed did an excellent job narrarating the program and Allie was a lamb. Before the program, the children got to do an individual act if they wanted. Reed read a poem that she wrote and Allie sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Merry Christmas!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-5532271994501758952008-12-19T15:15:00.003-05:002008-12-19T15:25:07.982-05:00I made it!!!It's Friday afternoon, and I have officially began my Christmas break!

Needless to say, I am excited. However, I still need to do some last-minute shopping and hope to get it done! If not, then I guess they didn't need it. Haha.

Some exciting news-- I went to the mall last night to pick up teacher gifts for my girls and was wandering around Bath and Body Works. I looked up and saw this woman and thought that she looked familiar. She walked off, then I ended up where she had moved to. She looked and me and recognized me, and it was Lulu!!!!!

She had come over into my neck of the woods for something with her husband, and I ran into her. That was so fun. It sort of made this blogging thing more real. When I hear about weather in certain areas I think of some of you, when I hear a news story I think of you, or if we are going somewhere I will think, well that's close to so-and-so. You folks influence and uplift way more than you will ever know!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Hope you make it through the crazy winter weather, the crazy people at the store, and the crazy families that you are visiting or are visiting you.

Merry Christmas. May you feel the Lord's presence in your life.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-25261883046033100132008-12-16T20:53:00.002-05:002008-12-16T21:03:24.483-05:00I told you I'd be back...I survived my conference and had a great time. Is that even possible at a work event? I heard some great speakers, got some good entertainment from these brothers from Nashville, The Standards. They sing, well, they sing standards. They were great for these type of thing, wedding, receptions, and that stuff. They were really, very good, actually.

Lesley and I shopped some, ate well, and saw a movie. I "had" to buy a new pair of shoes because the ones I took rubbed some mammoth blisters on my toes. =) The weather, however, was not very nice. It rained most of the time, and we both are paying for it this week. I can't breathe and my throat tickles. I hope that's all it does.

This past weekend was great. My family (my mom, her husband, my dad, his friend, my granny, my sister and her family, and my crew) went out to eat to celebrate my niece's 14th birthday and my "graduation." I didn't walk but we wanted to mark the event!! I got some pieces for my WillowTree navity set. I was quite excited about that.

Hope you all are having a good week, and wish us school teachers well as we finish up before the Christmas break. Most of the little kiddies are so excited about Santa that school work is NOT on their minds. We are having fun activities this week to help, so that's added excitement.

Also, please pray for the little ones that don't have much this year. I'm not talking about just presents under the tree; I am talking about not having shoes or a coat for the winter. Sometimes, I get so bogged down with what I feel I can't do for mine, that I forget what I actually do for them and what "doing without" really means.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-89235805879617276882008-12-09T21:04:00.002-05:002008-12-09T21:12:14.922-05:00I'll be back!!Hello all!! I am very excited this evening. I get to go to a 3 day conference in Gatlinburg, TN in the morning. That means I get to leave the classroom for 3 whole days! Don't get me wrong I enjoy being with my kiddos, but sometimes a chance to do something different is good.

In teaching, my day is so set on schedule. I can tell you what I will be doing at 9:12 am on Monday, March 9, 2009. I will be teaching the comprehension skills of my large group reading lesson for the day. If I had my manual here, I could even tell you the skill, the SPIs I would be covering, and the story we will be on. So, like I said, a chance to do something different, but still in my field, is exciting stuff!!

I'm also going with a buddy of mine from work, Lesley. Hey Lesley!! We will have 2 evenings free to shop, eat out, and just hang out. This is my idea of a vacation. Who cares that I will be sitting in workshops for 3 days? It will be different!!

I will miss my own children, and I was frantic trying to gather clothes, medicine, and dance gear; but, I will call them and IT WILL BE OKAY. I have to keep telling the mommy in me that the Robin in me needs this too. =)

Sooooo, happy hump day!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-14331014450359681782008-12-06T09:24:00.003-05:002008-12-06T09:44:15.190-05:00Time for a new post.....Just realized that I hadn't posted in December yet and it's the 6th!! Not much is going on, praise the Lord! No heat pump problems, no flooded bathrooms, and no major issues. Sure as I write this though, something will happen. Quick, say a prayer for us that nothing like that happens for awhile.

Thanksgiving was great. I felt like our break was just long enough, I loved getting to see Lynette and her crew, not having to take Reed to any dance practices, and just getting some time with family.

Since then though, things have been hectic. Billy was out of town this past week, school and other schedules were back to normal, and I had early morning duty at school. I think I was on time 1 day! LOL. I was 5 min. late the other days. We have to be there 15 min. earlier than usual for morning duty. Thank goodness, it's only like every 9 weeks.

Oh yeah, we left school early on Monday for snow, that was a great surprise! Then, we went in late on Tuesday. My kids at school were so out of sorts because of the schedule changes. They will be this way though until January. They are so excited with the least little thing. I put up lights in my room, and you would have thought it was Speedway in Lights .

Do any of you on-line shop? I did on Cyber Monday. I didn't get loads of fantastic deals, but it is so convinient! I was on the computer 2 hours though trying to make decisions on what to do. I love Christmas, but can't stand it at the same time. I don't like deciding what to give. I don't seem to really be in the mood this year. I'm listening to as many Christmas songs as I can trying to drum it up. Maybe it will work?

And to finish the week off right, Allie had to go to the doctor Friday. She has strep. It's going around school, and her room especially. I hope she's the only one to get it. Reed wasn't home last night so that's a plus. She went to see a play that her friend was in and then spent the night with her. My 9 year old has a better social life than I do. When did that happen???

Have a good day/weekend!!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-80843216873283099622008-11-28T05:34:00.001-05:002008-11-28T05:34:00.803-05:00Here it is..............................Well, I promised you last week that if youtube cooperated then I would present the song that helps get me in the mood for Christmas. I love this song. I got a CD way back when just because this song was on it. My friend, Christi, gave me an ornament that plays this song, back in 1995 (I think.) I still hang it on my tree and my oldest, Reed, loves it.

So, without further ado, I present you with (drumroll, please), The King. The one, the only Elvis Presley singing Blue Christmas.

Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.

And have a great start to the Christmas season!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-52285574391693605442008-11-24T20:02:00.005-05:002008-11-24T20:12:29.116-05:00I don't want it to happen.......I don't want it to happen but my little butterfly is growing up!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFQ34O6CI6nEpNfAz7jSB4VPPM8wCP6lwZ2Co-UT97HL5-yDAvr-x-5ieYXpeiGA6e5zoaVzAe8lXsgJtft1jzKuuBn1wNW69SgQqV9KP7UMXyj5SiHug1bQ0x-Gzur02I3zvCzafHfVET/s400/100_0844.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5272395091452305922" />

Allie lost her 1st tooth tonight! Plus, I probably would have officially gotten on your nerves with my choice!! I just realized that next Friday is the day AFTER Thanksgiving. That means I can pull out all my Christmas CDs and drive my girls insane with my choice of music for a month. Well, I do that everyday, but you know what I mean. I can NOT believe that it is that time of year again. I have not bought the first thing this year and do not know where to start. I hate Christmas for that very reason. I love the decorations, the festiveness, and the just, generally, good feeling of the time of year. But, I hate the gift shopping, exchanging, and hoping that you have pleased someone. Anywho, my song choice....... I'm not telling. If I can get youtube to do what I want it to do, I may surprise you all with a little cheer next week!

The stomach bug is starting at my school. I had a child, crying with stomach pains, the last twenty minutes of school. I call Mom, had to leave a message, waited 10 minutes, and then called grandma. I told her how he was just complaining right now and wanted her to know for when he got off the bus. He threw up while I was on the phone with her!!! And not a little, my poor book corner is all I'm going to say. :) My advice to you mothers: Lysol and Clorox wipes!!

Yes, I'm all excited about Twilight. Yes, I'm jealous that Lynette is seeing it tonight, and I'm not. Yes, I'm stupid for not going and getting tickets early, but I dont' want to go alone. Yes, I'm afraid I will look creepy going alone to see this movie about a bunch of young, good-looking people. I will try to get one of my nieces to go, hopefully this weekend. So no telling, Lynette!!

And finally, my fiasco of last night. Reed was at dance, it was time to get her, I got Allie ready and decided at the last minute to go tinkle. I used the bathroom, flushed, and rushed out the door. Cue to 30 minutes later. Walk in the door, downstairs, and hear a noise. I first thought, I didn't have the washing machine running. Then, I saw it. Water was leaking from the basement ceiling. All over my husband's laptop, book copies, and receits. I ran up the stairs, and saw the mess in the bathroom. Our toilet had been running over for 30 minutes!!!!!!!
Long story, short. My husband got home, was mad about his stuff, was ugly to me, I cried, didn't talk to him the rest of the night, and went to bed without helping him sort through stuff downstairs. He did apologize this morning, and it saved his life!

So, how was your week?Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-44975211923758489482008-11-14T05:00:00.000-05:002008-11-14T05:00:00.953-05:00Flashback Friday....

Thanks Christi for the Flashback picture-thingy. I finally figured out how to do it!!

This song is not my favorite or the best from Bon Jovi, but I was messing around on youtube the other night and found it. I do remember the video though. To a 15 year old girl, I thought this video was risk-ay!!! The scenes in the car put Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio from Titanic to shame! I think these two teens were doing more than living in sin. And what the heck is up with the girl getting communion? I've always liked Bon Jovi, but had forgotten about a lot of their stuff. At the time, I didn't quite get the Jon love. I just wanted to brush his hair. I never got into the male hair, I guess. I remember listening to Slippery When Wet for the first time at a friend's house, and yes, it was a big ole vinyl for my baby-like friends out there who don't know what records are!!

Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-20268127286356782552008-11-10T18:06:00.002-05:002008-11-10T18:26:21.883-05:00It's my turn.....I've been tagged!

Christi over at Blahblahblog tagged me for this fun meme!

Five Things I Was Doing 10 Years Ago
1. I just don't feel like I should. However, a couple of folks commented about kindergartners at a pumpkin patch, "how cute" and "won't that be fun." I have to share the story.........

To begin, let me start with the planning stages. We had seen the billboards for this pumpkin patch/corn maze. In six years of teaching kindergarten, I had never taken that field trip. I thought it sounded like fun, convinced everybody that it would be great, the weather would be fine, and that the kids would L-O-V-E it!! The website made the place sound fantastic. So I placed the phone call.

I tried to get this place on the phone and couldn't. I tried emailing and he didn't respond very fast. Finally, the other teacher (there are only 2 of us for kindergarten-small school) talked to them. They booked us and we got the kids pumped up. Well, they called on Tuesday at the school to see if we were still coming, and I said that we were scheduled for the next day. He said, oh yeah, but I thought it was maybe a different group or something.

My radar was buzzing then that this trip might not be all that we thought it was going to be. By the way, it was snowing when I talked to him on Tuesday. Snowing - in October!!!!!! I can't remember it ever doing that in east Tennessee before. Wait. It gets better.

So, next morning, we are at school getting ready to go. We are making sure the kids are bundled and ready to go. Forecast of 50 and sunny with blustery winds. Grrreeeeaaatttt!!!!!! Off we go, 45 minutes away to have fun outside!! By this time, Mrs. H and myself and decided that maybe, just maybe, it would be smarter to bring our bag lunches back to the warm school and eat instead of doing the "oh won't it be fun to eat at the corn maze" idea of when we thought the weather would be in the 60s.

We get to the place and find out that it is beside the sewage treatment plant!!!!!!! I wish I were kidding but I'm not. To quote a co-worker, "It smells like straight-up you-know-what!" Yes, the plant was on one side of the road and the farm was on the other.

The bus parks and the kids unload to get on the hay wagon. Before we know it, our coolers and lunches are also loaded. Guess we are eating here anyway!! Remember the smell?

They take us to the play area and let the kids run and play for close to an hour. They build a fire and roast marshmallows. (The nicest part of the trip.) Then, they tell us that we can walk them through the corn maze. We had to walk our classes through ourselves!! No pumpkin patch in sight, even though the website said that you could pick a pumpkin!! Our poor kids kept asking us if we were getting a pumpkin, and I felt so bad telling them that I didn't think so. So, we walk the kids through the maze for almost 30 minutes to come back out to take a hayride.

The man rides us around a separate field and we get even closer to the sewage treatment plant! The kids even notice the smell. He stops the wagon and asks if anyone wants to be an Indian. Next thing we know, he has shown them how to take these berries and smear the juice on their faces. I can only imagine the phone calls that would be coming from seeing Little Sally all decked out with war paint on her face! Then, he tells them that porcupines come and lay eggs there and throws those little sticky-things at them. Not the burrs, but the little things that stick to coats and stuff. Magical, I tell ya.

We go back to get ready for lunch, and guess what? We are eating outside at picnic tables, under walnut trees that keep dropping nuts, and the farm's DOGS won't get off the tables!! By this time, I don't think I can roll my eyes anymore. The kids are frozen, the temp is only about 48, and the wind keeps blowing papers and knocking drinks off the tables. And, remember the smell?

Finally, we load these little kiddies back onto the bus and head back to school. Luckily, this was our first field trip so the kids were so excited about just leaving the school. They did have fun being outside, playing, going through the maze, and the hay ride. Thank goodness.

You want to know the kicker? I could have taken my 5 year old daughter and she would have gotten in for free, but because we were a school group, it was $6 a child.

Needless to say, we won't be going back. The Griswalds will be going somewhere else next fall to get a pumpkin.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6009468841646919971.post-18801768966266458842008-10-28T20:30:00.002-04:002008-10-28T20:36:53.250-04:00Better today, thanks.....Today seemed to be a better day than yesterday. The washing machine's motor was out. Luckily, the extremely nice man who we called had a used motor that he was able to use and only for $98. A new motor(parts and labor) would have run us about $200. So, I am grateful and prayful that this used part will work for months to come.
Thanks for the comments yesterday. I really needed those. It was just one of those days.
Now, pray for me as I take my kindergarten class to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. It should be fun, but it shouldn't have been cold enough to be blowing snow today. Can you believe that? Oh well, we're all screwed up around here!!

Oh, WhereAreMyAngels, maybe we can make it to Jamaica. We could just get on a raft and float our way down!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17982831759199429930noreply@blogger.com5
