The LAST Competition
Reed had her last dance competition of the season Saturday at Meadowview here in Kingsport. Thank goodness, no hotel bill!! The girls did awesome! Every competiton groups differently and gives out awards differently. Reed and her group got "gold" and placed 3rd overall in junior division. Their production tap got a "high gold" and placed 1st over productions, and their production hip-hop got a "high gold" and placed 2nd overall in productions. I think that's so weird that you can compete against yourself in the categories. Another long day of dancing, but well worth it. Of course, I didn't get any pictures. We were so busy putting on the make-up and spraying glitter that you don't have time to get the camera out. However, I did video tape her tap number, "Baby I'm a Star." (I wasn't supposed to, but I did anyway.) I'm going to try to figure out how to get it on. I hope anyway.
At workshop the next day, Reed's friend Makenna got a scholarship for jazz, and Reed got one for tap!!!!!!!!!!!!! They only give 2 per age group so I was shocked but so excited. There were about 100 girls there, so it was great. It just means that next year we won't have to pay the $100 to do the workshop; it will be free!! So, yay Reed!! My friend Christi's niece got an advanced scholarship. They actually win a scholarship to go somewhere, and she won the one to the Joffrey Ballet. She is a beautiful dancer, and well deserving.
Here is a picture of Reed and Makenna!!

I Can't Believe I Made it Home!!
Tonight, Brittany, my 16 year-old niece, called me to take her out driving. Brittany didn't get her learner's permit until last week and has only been out on the road 2 times. Well, we went!! She did well and I shouldn't say anything. Does anybody else remember their first times out on the road? (My sister yelling at me sticks out in my mind.) We only had 1 person honk at us, I had to have her slow down a couple of times, and she remembered to press the gas pedal and turn the wheel at most turns. I had a blast out with her though and am more than willing to go again. So, say some prayers for me and Britt as I (now, that's funny) teach her to drive. Christi, remember me trying to teach you a stick out at Patrick Henry? Good times. = )
Update on Reed's dance competition from Asheville this past weekend. I didn't get any pictures. We were there from 8 AM until 7:30 that night! UGH!! I did see some great routines though. Reed's tap group got a high gold, won their age division, and won 1st place in small groups. They were excited about that. Her production tap group got gold, and her production hip-hop group got judge's choice gold, won age division, won the showstopper award, and won 1st place in large groups. The girls have worked hard, and it was extremely rewarding. We dance this weekend at Meadowview. So, hair, make-up, false eyelashes here we come again!!!
I hope everyone has a great week!!

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter to all!! I wish the weather here had been as bright as the dresses and flowers at church. It's been gray, cloudy, and windy today. Coming home from church, it was only 45 degrees. Yuck!! I am finally ready for warmer weather. I had to see the end of any season, but I do like the feel of the sun on my skin in the spring. I'm enjoying being on spring break. We saw Horton Hears a Who on Friday, and it was cute. Bebe and I took the kids. Everybody liked it. Enjoyed the egg hunt yesterday too. This week, for me, will be working on my practicum for my Ed.S program. And write a critique and look at writing an article. Double yuck!! I just have to remind myself of July 12 and I remember that I can do it!! Here are some pictures of the girls before church this morning. We were in a hurry, and with the weather, I didn't want to get outside. I'll have them wear it again when it's warmer to get some outside shots. Have a great rest of the day.

Dance Competition
Hello all!! We got back a little ago from Greenville, SC for a dance competition that Reed was in. We are two tired little puppies. Allie stayed with Bebe and her daddy while Mamaw, Mommy, and Reed got to go. Reed's tap group did fantastic!! We were a little disappointed with the judging, b/c they only got a high silver. The girls though did great for this to be their first "big" experience. The production tap team got high silver, and the production hip-hop team got gold. Reed is on both of these. Most of what placed the highest were the numbers that were different, edgy, and more comtemporary.
Reed competed Friday night and then was in classes Saturday and Sunday. She was thrilled to get to work with Barry Youngblood again and Blake McGrath. Blake was on the dance show, So You Think You Can Dance. One of the dancers from our studio won one of two awards that they give. She won a week's worth of lessons from a Millenium Dance Studio in L.A., that's the one were "famous" people go.
I have never seen hundreds of girls dancing and screaming and cheering each other on. I only wish we could take pictures during the actual competition. Here are a couple of pictures I got with my cell phone of Reed's tap group before they went on.

PTA
Reed was in her PTA program tonight, and they did a 50's theme. Thanks to Makenna (and Laura) for letting us borrow the costume. Sure is nice to have such great friends!! It is our school's 50th birthday, and our music teacher has done an awesome job celebrating that this school year. The girls looked so cute with their skirts and ponytails. It was sweet. Reed was part of a group who did some dance moves while they sang "Rockin Robin" I didn't know she was doing that. I was shocked that she didn't bust out, but she seemed kind of shy up on stage. That's not my dancer. We'll have dance competition pictues and stories later in March.

Only a Woman Could Have Written This
I laughed so hard at this last night I was crying. Billy didn't quite "get it," but I think it is a lady thing. Have you ever felt this way when it was that time? I have!! I had the video up, but it messed my sidebar up. So anyway, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0e-mldM3ME
Okay, I've edited to ask why the link is not showing up? UGH!! First the video, now the link. Anyway, funny fake commerical about a once-a-year period. Look it up on youtube, annuale
