New Playlist

The new playlist matches my mood. I'm thankful for what I have, but.................... feeling sort of blue.
I guess I'm just tired from hovering over Reed. She has not been as perky today. I guess she is drained too. I hope she will pep up some tomorrow. I feel so sorry for her b/c she wants to eat, is hungry, but can't handle more than a couple of bites of anything more than jello. She will be so sick of that after this!!
Thanks to everyone for prayers, emails, calls, and visits. That means alot to all of us.

Reed

Reed perked up enough this evening to play a couple of games with Allie. She is doing fantastic. I feel sorry for her though because she is hungry, and the thickest thing I will let her have is vanilla pudding. I think tomorrow I will let her have some soup or mashed potatoes. Like my daughter, I try to do what I'm told to do. The nurses told us to keep it very light today. I'm still bugging her to death to drink, drink, drink. As I keep telling her, "A moist throat is a happy throat!"

My little trooper with her red jello mouth.

Surgery Update

Reed's surgery went well. Dr. Hunt said it was a good thing to get those tonsils out of there.
She was really nervous this morning, but stayed in good spirits. The only time I thought she was going to cry was when I had to leaving her in the holding area, but she stayed brave and didn't make a peep. Believe it or not, I didn't either. She woke up well from the anesthesia and was a good little patient. Allie was glad to see her and kept rubbing her forehead. The nurses were so nice to her and Allie. When we left, they let Allie ride in the wheelchair with Reed out to the car. We are at home now. She is trying to sleep while I am trying to keep getting sips down her. Lots of slushies today!!
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!!

ETA: Sunday night I was talking to Allie about Reed's surgery. We talked about how she needed to ask God to watch over Reed. She said that she didn't need to do that. She went on to explain that God and Jesus live in people's hearts. I said "Why not ask God then to watch over Reed?" Allie replied, "Well, if God lives in my heart then I don't have to ask him, only if he lived outside of my heart."
I thought that was so sweet and such great insight from the 5 year-old. If only we all could remember that God lives within us and wants to watch over us.

Change for Reed

Just a quick update. We got a phone call today about 5:15 that Reed will be getting her tonsils out Tuesday instead of 3 weeks from now. Actually, that was a prayer answered because of competition dance in March and all the practices before then. Now she really will just be out one practice and it won't be the one right before we go to Greenville, SC. Just say a prayer that Reed does well and she has no complications.

Note on the Playlist:
UGH!!!! I'm about ready to give up my project. Now, I've songs popping up that won't play. Of course, it's some of my favorites -- U2, Bon Jovi Guess I can't have it all.
Christi, I did add Kenny and Dolly, Islands in the Stream. Lynette, a little Refugee for you. I seem to remember you getting called that some when we were younger. You Cuban you!!

Birthday Parties

My 5 year-old DAUGHTER, Allie, wanted Buzz and Woody for her cake this year.

Reed's cake came from her party invitations.

I think the girls were excited over their party.

Allie with two of her favorite people, Meredith and Andrew.

The girls loved their party and I wish I had more pics of them with their buddies. Lauren took pictures for me so I could see what little of opening I could see. Thanks Lauren for helping out. The party place was fantastic. I showed up with the cakes and the party hostess did the rest. They served the drinks, the pizza, and even cut the cake. They even gave me a cart to carry stuff to the car. I will have to remember that for next year. As we were driving home, I asked Allie if she had a good party and she said, "It was great!"

I still can't believe that my girls are getting older. Reed will be nine Friday. Where has the time gone? We found out today that Reed will be getting her tonsils out next month. Please pray for me with everything going on that we get this done and over and for her that everything goes well. Between my school schedule and her dance competition schedule, this is our only window of opportunity until late spring. I want it over with instead of dreading it for months.

Well, that's all for today. Have a great day!

Still on the Playlist

I'm still working on the playlist. I've added a few, including John Denver, Lynette. Please help me out thinking of some more. It has become my obsession right now. I'll be in the shower and a song will just pop in my head. UGH!!! What have I started?

My Playlist

Hello all. I got an idea.

I love music.

I can usually relate events in my life to songs of the time. So, I made a playlist of songs I liked in high school and some songs that I just remember from childhood. I may make one later of songs I really liked from college. No, Lynette and Betsy, I didn't put Debbie Boone on here. But Anne, I did put "Hot Child in the City!"
If any of you can think of songs I didn't put on that were popular way back then, leave me a comment. I need your help here Christi.
Like, right now, I just realized I only put 1 Madonna song on there. Too many songs, and not enough memory.
Enjoy the playlist!!!!!

The girls had their birthday party last night. It went great. I'll try to post pics later.

Brittany

Brittany was a sophmore rep on the Queen of Hearts court at North. They had their presentation Tuesday at school. Isn't she so pretty? Her escort is her "friend" Cody.

A "REAL" Snow Day!!!!!!!

Here is Reed with the little snowman she made. We used Hershey Kisses for the eyes and that orange slice candy for the nose.

Stripes was wanting in on the fun.

Allie reminds me of myself. She kept complaining that the snow was getting in her mittens and her sock was slipping off her foot into her boot. Sound familiar, Bebe and Mama?

We had a real snow day today. It was great to wake up and see actual snow on the ground. I'm posting pictures for you Florida cousins. We didn't have to use the sprinklers to get our fun outside! :) I still think that was a great idea Lynette. Randy is one smart cookie. I hate he left TN though before he got to have the snow. He could have brought some home for the kids.

They say it's your birthday..........It's my birthday too!!

Today is my birthday and what a great day it has been. I turned 35 today, and since I have turned 30, every year is a reflection of what I feel I haven't done yet. This year, however, I decided to focus on the wonderful things I have. I am happy, I am working on a goal for my career, and my family is well and healthy. Sometimes life can't get any better.

I had friends reach out today to say happy birthday, and I thank you all. A special thanks to Christi for the shout out on your blog! I loved it!! I got a surprise at school. A teacher came to my door today and asked to speak to me. When I got into the hallway, the entire third grade sang happy birthday to me. That's Reed's grade. It was so sweet to see my daughter, her friends, and many kids I had in kindergarten doing that. Also, my class sang to me in the morning.

My mother-in-law surprised me this afternoon by having a cake and letting the girls feel like I had a real birthday. Allie really feels it's important for you to have cake and a party on your birthday. She kept saying, "Did you really like your birthday mommy?" She can be so sweet. We went out to eat with the Virginia family tonight and had a good time. I got money from family and plan on spending it on me. (as a mom, you know that doesn't always happen.) My sister surprised me though. I didn't open her present until I was home. It was a Willow Tree navtivity. She has one and I have admired it for a few Christmases. I cried when I opened that one. I may get agrivated with her for still playing "big sister" but she has the best heart out of everybody I know.

So today, I celebrate how blessed I am and want to hold on to that feeling.

Snow Day

When I got up this morning, this is the sweet image I got to see. I take these as they come, because after being up for a while, a fight broke out. Fights over Reed not letting Allie into her room, and Allie not letting Reed use the Leapster. Oh the joys of parenthood!

Resolutions?

I have noticed several people have posted or talked about resolutions for this year. I hadn't come up with any, and it's definitely not for a lack of need. I guess I'll take a shot at it. The main things I want to make sure I do this year are
1- finish Ed.S degree
2- drink more water
3- exercise on a more regular basis
4- feel church again, right now I feel very "whatever"
5- pay more attention to right now and quit worrying about later down the road

Oh well, guess that's enough for the real things I need to do. I just want to hold on to right now. Reed will be 9 later this month and it has hit me. I am "half-way" finished with her. I know not really, but only 9 more years of having her in the house under my rule. I can't believe how fast the time has flown. Scary, isn't it?

And is it so bad, that I was excited to get a snow day for tomorrow after being off for two weeks!!!! Ahhhh, the joy of being a school teacher!

New Year's Eve with the Fritz family

Lauren had been to a party and left her party dress on to ring in the new year!

Jamie is holding Allie who loves for Jamie to be around. She plays with her and does crafts.

The crazy kids!!

This is what my nephews really look like. I think they are related to the Doodlebops!

Lauren showing off her cheerleading skills. I think so anyway.............

And finally, this is how excited Billy gets over anything.

No, actually we had a good time with my sister and her family. Mom and Jamie came over. We bowled on the Wii. Billy beat Jamie and then me. That was a first, on the bowling anyway. Lauren tried to teach me how to play Guitar Hero, but I don't think that will happen. I have decided I am out of the loop on that one. Then, we had birthday cheesecake for Billy and celebrated the ball dropping. Billy's birthday is today, New Year's Day. Oh yeah, he has spent his whole life thinking that the big ball in Times Square was for him. :)
