Since we last spoke......

I took today off from work to spend over 2 1/2 hours at the allergy doctor's office with Reed. We have been battling a cough and allergy symptoms since July and finally got a referral to see the allergist.

Reed is allergic to the typicals: trees, grass, weeds, dust mites, mold, and CATS. Well, we have a cat. We've had her for 3 years now, and Reed is just now acting like she's bothering her. But, looking back on it, the cat did just start sleeping with Reed this summer. Oops!! Now, we've got to figure out how to deal with Reed and not have to get rid of Stripes. I'm sure Billy would be willing to make the sacrifice but I don't know if the girls could give her up. Kitty-girl is pretty special to them, even though the cat is weird. I've never been around a cat that doesn't want people to acknowledge her at all. Reed and Billy are the only two that she will allow to touch her, pick her up, or just rub on her. She swats at Allie everytime poor Allie gets close. She just gives me the evil eye and takes off running when I look at her. Just pray that we can remedy this without wailing.

I've got to go back to school this evening for parent conferences. We are doing 3 hours this evening and then half a day tomorrow. I hope it works out. I've got to keep the girls with me until Billy can get here, close to 5. Reed has dance at 5:30 so he better be on time!!! Brittany's keeping the girls in the morning. I just didn't realize how much I depended on my mother-in-law for watching the girls. They will be back in town this weekend though.

Say a prayer for us on the cat and on my conferences. No problems, that I'm aware of but you never know!!!!

Flashback Friday.....

I can't believe I hadn't posted anything since last Friday. Not much going on, just working and driving the girls around. Our heat pump is messed up again and I am burning up even though it's not hot outside. I think I have cramps! This IUD thing can confuse me like that.

So today I'm going to flash back to a song from high school. This is the first time I had ever seen or heard of U2. We were on a band trip to Williamsburg, VA and us girls were excited to get MTV on the tv at the hotel. We didn't have that in '87 in my podunk hometown.

This song and video mesmerized me and began my love for all things Bono, Larry, Edge, and Adam. Then, when I met Billy, it impressed him that I loved them as much as he did. We have seen them lots of times now, and have gotten Reed to love them. As a toddler in a stroller, we would be shopping and Reed would lean forward and say "Is that Bono?" when she heard their music in the stores.

I had to embed a live version because embedding for the official video was denied by request. --on all of the real videos!!!!!

Here's my first U2 song:

Flashback Friday....

My good friend Christi, over at BlahBlahBlog, has this neat picture for her Flashback Fridays and so I am borrowing it-- just like I have borrowed clothes, jewelry, and other things through the years. :) Christi, I couldn't get it to work. Help!!!!!!!!!!
She put Prince's Kiss on hers today because we love Prince. We say him in concert back in '97 and was amazed. I know the man is odd, but....... our fascinations were always questionable.
I am going to flash another Prince song today, "Purple Rain," it's the first song I ever slow-danced to in middle school. I just knew I was going to love Tommy Anderson til the day I died. I didn't, but we stayed pretty good friends through out school. Puppy love, isn't it sweet? However, since Prince is odd, you can't find his stuff to post. I don't know how Christi got her video because there is nothing on youtube because of copyright.

So..... I'm going to be flexible. I'm good at that.

I'm going to now flash to a different type of song. How about a little Joan Jett? She kicked some tail back in the day. Even at age 10, I understood she was BAD ASS. And I'll share a secret, my husband loves her. He totally crushes on her, and all of her leather and lace appeal. Typical man, huh?
Have a great weekend everybody!!

Update on test.......

I thank you guys for offering support and checking in on me during the weekend.

The test was everything I thought it would be and worse, I guess. LOL. I had to be there by 7:30. I got there about 7:20 and folks were there to tell us that the school leadership test had been moved to another building. I didn't know where it was and was huffing it to make sure I got there on time. I got into that building and no one was in the lobby to tell me where to go. I heard voices, not in my head :), but it was for the Praxis, a teaching licensure test. I heard more upstairs and finally found where I was supposed to be. There was about 24 of us in there.

We had to sit where they told us to sit, have our photo id out at all times, and had to follow certain instructions: Keep id out, no chewing gum, no drinking anything, if your cell phone were to go off then you were made to leave and no finishing the test. Doesn't everybody want to take a very important test with their driver license photo staring at them?

I said we had the "Test Nazis" but I guess she was just reading her instructions from the book. The room was warm, and later in the day, she said she wrote it up so we couldn't say that was why we didn't perform well. I think that was her attempt at humor!!

We started close to 8. The first test was an hour with 10 questions. We went straight into the 2nd test, which was also an hour with 6 questions. Finally, we got a bathroom break. Then we took the third test which was 2 hours with only 2 questions. We went to lunch and came back for test #4. It was 2 hours with 7 questions. I got in my car to leave around 4:20!! What a day!!
Believe it or not, I thought of my bloggin buddies and was glad I had you all on my side. I prayed myself a few times for clarity and making sure I didn't freeze up.

The questions were basically how I would handle certain situations and deal with it. I had to base it on standards we learned in school, like: getting input, working with families/communities, being ethical, and knowing the legality of things. I guess they want to make sure that we won't barge in and be difficult to work with. I don't know, I felt like was writing close to the same thing each and everytime.

Honestly, I don't know how well I did. Some questions I felt like I did okay on and others I know I could have done better. As we were leaving, someone asked if anyone remembered what the first question was and no one could answer him. Six hours of testing, 25 essay answers, and a long day of writing!!!!! I was one worn out chica Saturday evening, but felt strangely elated.
I will hear what my results are in about a month. I hope I am happy enough with them to share with you guys. LOL. I don't know if I could do that again--$480 and the time. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So......... sorry that my post is boring and drawn out today, but I wanted to share with everyone. Thanks again for the support!!

Say a little prayer for me.....

On Saturday, I will be taking the SLLA test, the school leadership licensure assessment. It will determine whether or not I get my license to be qualified to be a school administrator. I am extremely nervous and I am requesting that you say a prayer for me before you go to bed tonight or Saturday morning.

We have to be there by 7:30 Saturday morning and the test last for 6 hours. It is all essay type answer, and that is trying to put me in a tailspin. I am trying so hard not to think about that, but remember to rely on what I learned in my classes and just answer the questions the best I can. Situations and documents will be presented and you have to reply to questions about how to handle these situations. I have studied and looked over stuff, but am not sure exactly how prepared you can be for something like this.

Oh well, just remember me Saturday as I go for this. I still don't know if I really would want to be a principal or not, but it will be nice to have the qualification part over and done with in case I decide to go for a position.

Thanks a bunch, and I hope to have the good news (a passing score) in about a month or six weeks!!

Not much going on today....

Not much going on lately. Oh, I'm doing the usual weekly routines of getting up going to work, coming home, and taking the girls wherever they are going. But as far as my life goes, not much new to talk about.
So, I've been reading the books from the Twilight series. My niece Brittany read them first and I didn't think I would be interested. Then, I read the first one and now I am so excited about the movie coming out in November. I have a crush on the main male character in the book. He's a over 100 year old vampire that seems to know how to smile at a girl and kiss her just right. So funny, that I'm crushing on a character in a book and one that's so............different. Plus, I have looked stuff up on the web on these books, the author, and even the actor playing Edward (Robert Pattinson, by the way.) Add to that, that I'm a 35 year old mom and not a teenage girl who these books seem geared towards. I'm going to have to make Britt or Lauren go to the movie with me so I don't seem so old-person perverted. : )
I'm going to ask you all a question. Who have you had a crush on before that has shocked you? You know, you really don't know what the appeal is, you are just drawn to this person. Real or a character in a movie or book. Not a crush that is your "type" but somebody that you would be embarassed by to be seen with you in real life. Who is your "hidden" crush?

Seven, my side of things.

Melissa, over at Stretch Marks, had this up today, and I thought it would be neat to do. Do you know how hard it was to think of some of these things? I had to make my brain work and it's after school hours, no fair!
